The Butler Didn't Do It, Jaylen Did: Brown’s 41-Point Masterclass

If the Boston Celtics are trying to send a message to the rest of the league, they just hit "Reply All" with a megaphone. In a Monday night heavyweight bout at the Garden, the C's survived a 40-point barrage from Devin Booker to take down the Phoenix Suns, 120-112.

The JB MVP Tour is Real

For anyone still moving the goalposts on Jaylen Brown’s MVP candidacy, move them again—he’ll just dunk over them. Brown exploded for a game-high 41 points, with 18 of those coming in a cold-blooded fourth-quarter takeover. When things got tight late, Brown didn't just score; he decided he owned the defensive end, too, snagging a clutch steal from Booker that flipped the momentum for good.

The Return of the King (of the Garden)

Speaking of "feel-good" stories, Jayson Tatum is officially back in the "playing 30+ minutes and scaring everyone" business. In just his fifth game back from a devastating Achilles injury that cost him the first 62 games of the season, Tatum logged 21 points in 32 minutes. Seeing him run the floor and finish layups feels like a cheat code being re-enabled for a team that's already sitting pretty as the 2nd seed in the East.

The Supporting Cast

While the stars were out, the "Others" were clinical:

  • Derrick White: Celebrated his February Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month award by dropping 21 points and generally making life miserable for Phoenix's guards.

  • Payton Pritchard: The "FastPP" era continues. He chipped in 19 points off the bench, including five triples.

The "Suns Burn"

Phoenix (39-29) fought like a team desperate to stay out of the Play-In tournament, but they simply ran out of gas. Devin Booker was heroic with 40 points, but after a late 120-112 lead for Boston, the Suns' defense evaporated, giving up a 12-1 run to end the game.

What’s Next?

The Celtics (45-23) don't get much time to celebrate. They host Golden State on Wednesday, which is always a "mark your calendars" kind of night. Meanwhile, the Suns have to fly to Minnesota for a Tuesday night back-to-back. Good luck with that.

Sanchez Sideline will be in the building Wednesday to see if the C's can keep this momentum rolling against Steph and the Dubs.
