B.T. Harvey Stadium was packed to the gills Saturday for the ATL Labor Day Classic, where the bands brought the heat, the tailgate smoke was thick enough to require radar, and Clark Atlanta decided to remind neighborly rival Morehouse that style points don't matter when you have jet fuel in the backfield.

**Final score: Clark Atlanta 31, Morehouse 21.**

New Panthers head coach Terry Sims snagged his very first win with CAU, and what better way to wash the bitter taste of a 49-7 Grambling beatdown out of your mouth than by handing an L to the school right across the quad?

If Morehouse thought they were easing into the afternoon, running back Trayvon Pinder quickly adjusted their expectations. Less than two minutes into the first quarter, Pinder hit a gap, turned on the nitrous, and ripped off a 94-yard sprint to the house. The track meet was officially underway.

Morehouse didn't immediately pack up their maroon blazers, though. They scratched their way to a brief 9-7 lead off a Davis Rowe kick and a 30-yard scamper from Chase DeVaughn. But CAU grabbed the steering wheel right back before the bands could even tune up at halftime, courtesy of a 39-yard Kelan Anderson bolt and a chip-shot field goal to sit pretty at 17-9.

Every time the Maroon Tigers tried to turn this into a heavyweight bout in the second half—pulling within two in the third, then closing the gap to 24-21 in the fourth—the dynamic duo of quarterback Xzavier Jackson and Chry’shawn Sellers showed up to pull the fire alarm.

Jackson and Sellers hooked up for a 14-yard score late in the third, then slammed the door shut in the fourth with a 51-yard house call that sucked the remaining oxygen right out of Morehouse’s sideline. Jackson was an ultra-efficient 13-of-22 with zero picks, Sellers bagged two scores, and Dae’Jeaun Dennis casually galloped for 104 rushing yards to push CAU’s ground total to 259.

Now, let's run the tape for **The Sanchez Audit**:

Morehouse dominated time of possession (35 minutes!), ran 23 more plays, and stacked 25 first downs. And yet, they got left in the rearview mirror. Why? Because Clark Atlanta treated offensive possessions like a quick sprint to the corner store, averaging an absurd 7.88 yards per snap on just 50 plays with zero turnovers. Who needs a slow 14-play drive when you can just drop a 50-yard bomb and get back to the sideline in time for water?

Sims walks away with three straight bragging-rights victories for CAU in a 100-year-old rivalry, moves to 1-0 in SIAC play, and sends Morehouse back to the drawing board at 0-2\. Labor Day weekend in the A belongs to the Panthers.
