Breaking: Sabrina Ionescu Robbed in LA, Burglars Wisely Avoid Meeting Her Offensive Lineman Husband
Welcome to Los Angeles, where the real estate is expensive, the weather is perfect, and apparently, there is a dedicated task force of thieves targeting anyone with a jersey number and a Wikipedia page.
New York Liberty superstar Sabrina Ionescu is the latest victim of the "athletes can't have nice things" epidemic. On Monday night, two suspects smashed through the rear glass door of her new Mar Vista home, which she and her husband, former NFL lineman Hroniss Grasu, bought just last month for $4.4 million.
The thieves made off with over $60,000 worth of handbags. (To the burglars: We get it, the resale market is hot, but maybe get a real job?)
Fortunately, neither Ionescu nor Grasu were home at the time. And frankly, the burglars should be thanking their lucky stars for that. Grasu is a 300-pound former Chicago Bear and Las Vegas Raider. Breaking into a house is a crime; breaking into a house occupied by an NFL offensive lineman is a death wish.
Ionescu joins a growing club nobody wants to be in. Just Sunday night, Tennessee Titans star Jeffery Simmons had his house broken into while he was away playing the 49ers. At this rate, athlete home security systems need to stop being cameras and start being actual moats with alligators.
Sabrina is a WNBA champion, a 4-time All-Star, and a walking bucket. Hopefully, the LAPD finds the guys who took the bags before she has to start sinking 30-footers at their heads.
Stay safe out there, legends. And maybe invest in a very large, very loud dog.
