SANCHEZ SIDELINE MEDIA | GEORGIA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL | OCTOBER 9, 2026
Grayson delivers in the Sanchez Sideline Game of the Week, Brookwood drops 50, Parkview pitches a shutout, and Westlake escapes by a single point in a wild night of Georgia high school football.
Georgia high school football doesn't believe in taking Friday nights off.
Some teams dominated. Others had to fight until the final whistle. And a few made it clear that when postseason football arrives, they intend to be part of the conversation.
Eight games highlighted this week's Georgia high school football action, with everything from defensive shutouts to a one-point nail-biter.
For Sanchez Sideline Media, the spotlight was on Grayson and Archer in our Game of the Week. But across the Peach State, there were plenty of other headlines worth discussing.
Game of the Week: Grayson 28, Archer 3
The Grayson Rams didn't just win our Game of the Week. They made sure Archer never found the end zone.
Grayson walked away with a commanding 28-3 victory over Archer, combining a 28-point offensive showing with a defensive performance that limited the Tigers to a single field goal.
That's the kind of result that deserves attention in October.
Grayson has built a reputation as one of Georgia's premier high school football programs, and a 25-point victory over Archer reinforces the standard the Rams expect to maintain.
The offense put enough points on the board to control the final result, while the defense made sure Archer never developed a scoring rhythm.
For Archer, the loss provides plenty to evaluate as the season moves toward its most important stretch.
The Sanchez Sideline Take: Grayson showed exactly why this matchup earned our Game of the Week spotlight. The Rams delivered on both sides of the football, and holding an opponent without a touchdown is a statement that goes beyond the final score.
Tucker 20, Southwest DeKalb 7
Tucker continued its strong season with a 20-7 victory over Southwest DeKalb.
This was a matchup between two DeKalb County programs with proud football traditions, and the Tigers emerged with a 13-point win.
Tucker's defense held the Panthers to just seven points, giving the Tigers another result to build on as the regular season winds down.
The Sanchez Sideline Take: Tucker keeps finding ways to win. Not every victory has to be a 40-point blowout. Sometimes holding a rival to seven points and taking care of business is exactly what a contender needs to do.
Brookwood 50, North Gwinnett 24
Brookwood brought the offense Friday night.
The Broncos erupted for 50 points in a 50-24 victory over North Gwinnett, producing one of the week's most impressive offensive totals.
Scoring 50 against a program with North Gwinnett's football tradition is the kind of performance that will get people talking.
The 26-point victory gives Brookwood another strong result heading into the final portion of the regular season.
The Sanchez Sideline Take: Brookwood didn't come to play conservative football. Fifty points against North Gwinnett is a serious offensive statement. If the Broncos can keep producing at this level, they'll be a dangerous matchup.
Parkview 55, Berkmar 0
Some Friday nights are competitive.
Others are complete domination.
Parkview delivered the latter, dismantling Berkmar 55-0 in the most lopsided result of our Georgia recap.
The Panthers led all eight winning teams in scoring, while their defense refused to surrender a single point.
A 55-point shutout is an impressive combination of offensive production and defensive execution.
The Sanchez Sideline Take: Parkview gets two sets of flowers this week. Fifty-five points on offense and a goose egg on defense? That's a complete scoreboard performance. The Panthers delivered the loudest victory of the night.
Stephenson 38, Greater Atlanta Christian 35
Now THIS is the kind of Friday night football that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.
Stephenson edged Greater Atlanta Christian 38-35 in a three-point battle that was among the closest games in this week's recap.
With 73 combined points, both offenses contributed to a high-scoring contest, but the Jaguars finished with the advantage.
The difference between winning and losing was just a field goal.
The Sanchez Sideline Take: Stephenson deserves credit for coming out on top in a game where every point mattered. The Jaguars survived a serious challenge, and winning close games can teach a team just as much as dominating an opponent.
Westlake 35, East Coweta 34
If Stephenson's game was close, Westlake and East Coweta took things one step further.
The Lions escaped with a 35-34 victory in the closest finish of our eight featured games.
One point.
That's all that separated the two teams when the final whistle sounded.
East Coweta put up 34 points, but Westlake found itself on the winning side of the scoreboard.
For the Lions, the result represents the kind of narrow victory that can matter enormously when teams look back on their seasons.
The Sanchez Sideline Take: Westlake survived, and sometimes that's the entire story. You don't get extra points in the standings for style. A one-point win counts just as much as a 30-point blowout. But the Lions will want to tighten things up defensively moving forward.
Mays 9, Jackson 0
While other teams were lighting up scoreboards, Mays was proving that defense still wins football games.
The Raiders defeated Jackson 9-0 in a low-scoring defensive battle.
Nine points might not turn heads offensively, but holding an opponent scoreless certainly will.
Mays joins Parkview as one of the two teams in this week's Georgia recap to record a shutout.
The Sanchez Sideline Take: Don't overlook this one because the score was low. A 9-0 win tells us Mays' defense did its job. When the offense isn't piling up points, keeping the other team at zero becomes even more valuable.
Newton 46, Rockdale County 16
Newton put together another impressive offensive showing, defeating Rockdale County 46-16.
The Rams scored 46 points and finished with a 30-point margin of victory.
Newton's offensive output was among the highest of the night, trailing only Parkview and Brookwood in our featured games.
The Sanchez Sideline Take: Newton made a strong statement with 46 points. The Rams have every reason to feel good about this result, but maintaining that offensive production against tougher postseason competition will be the real test.
